Hospo is a fast-paced industry characterised by constant change and challenges. It encompasses the forefront of food, wine, design, and sociability, but also entails long hours, burnout, staff shortages, and mental health struggles. Navigating and managing this world can be overwhelming for businesses and workers alike. While several time management platforms exist, none truly comprehend the unique needs of hospo. Droppah, a dedicated rostering platform, initially followed a familiar path as a function-focused SaaS (software as a service) product, lacking the heart and understanding that hospo requires.

So we transformed it, creating SaaS with sass, an identity that celebrates its identity - backing the industry and looking after the people within. It’s rostering software that understands the hospo world and you as a hospo worker. But also you as an artist, student, gardener, friend.

We built a new core proposition that talked to individualism and uniqueness, with a new guiding idea ‘Like no other’ – Rostering software like no other, an experience like no other, for an industry like no other, for teams like no other, for a day like no other, for a career path like no other, for a life like no other. For You. Like no other.

Naturally, we created an identity system like no other. Creating a wordmark that shifts and flex’s like our industry. An ‘O’ that extends in and out, forming our core distinctive lozenge that represents the base of our illustrations and visual expression of ‘time’ in our app interface.

We paired these lozenges with our people illustrations, adding a human touch and a playful visual tone of voice.

Incorporating a hard working yet quirky and human typeface and our hard-working icons that add calm to the chaos. 

We defined a night and day colour palette reflecting the always-on state of the hospo world, combined with unexpected colour combinations that talk to the vibrancy and attitude of the industry. A work hard, play hard style of gritty, real and edgy photography was a window into the hospo world.

The result is a proposition and design system that puts personalisation and customisation to work, at work. Looking after both business and people, making short work of the complexities of staff rostering. It’s Droppah, and it’s like no other.
